AEK Athens vs Brighton

30/11/2023

Brighton look to qualify for the Europa League knockouts with a win against AEK Athens in their first ever European campaign.

AEK won the game 3-2 the last time these sides met back in September at the Amex with Joao Pedro scoring Brighton's first ever European goal. Although Brighton lost, their performance was spirited with this being the only defeat so far.

Since then they have managed to pick up a draw against Marseille and two wins against Ajax. Their final two fixtures in the group stage consist of an away game against AEK Athens and a home game versus Marseille.

Seagulls midfielder Billy Gimour believes that "We know what we're capable of, we're in a good place after two great wins and two clean sheets against Ajax and we're looking forward to tonight."

The Scottish international added "We don't want this to be a one-off. Competing in this and the Premier League is very tough but we want to be pushing for Europe every year."

The side who sit on the south coast currently sit second in their group with seven points, one point behind Marseille and three points above AEK Athens in third.
