Brighton get their first clean sheet of the Premier League campaign with draw with West Ham
Brighton was without their captain Lewis Dunk but managed to secure their first clean sheet of the season so far in their 0-0 draw with West Ham. Jan Paul Van Hecke partnered Adam Webster in the centre of defence for the majority of the game and denied the Hammers a goal. Pervis Estupiñán and Jack Hinshelwood started in the full back positions of the Brighton defence with Jason Steele in goal.
After what seemed like a passive first half from both sides, the Seagulls looked for an opener in the second but were unable to find the back of the net. With their 22 shots at goal, only 8 were on target. Facundo Buonanotte and Pascal Groß had the best chances for Brighton in the first half but were not able to score their efforts at goal.
Jarrod Bowen had a good chance in the first half when Steele pushed his shot onto the post and then the forwards later chance in that half was shot just past off the post. James Ward-Prowse had the best chance of the half when his effort was thwarted by Steele. West Ham had very few chances in the second half with Said Benhrama almost capitalising on a Brighton mistake by crossing to Bowen who chested it towards the back post for Tomáš Souček who poked it wide.
Brighton will be disappointed that they were unable to win the game with a dominant second half. Adam Lallana could have won it late for the Seagulls but was denied brilliantly by Alphonse Areola who pushed away the former Liverpool man's right footed curled strike.
Webster who just returned back from injury was taken off with a new injury in the 75th minute which means that Brighton's defensive crisis will continue.
