Liverpool go top of the Premier League Table after a 2-0 win against Burnley. The Reds kept their nerves in a tense ending which almost saw the Clarets score a late equaliser at Turf Moor.
Darwin Nunez who hadn't scored in his previous 12 games scored for Liverpool inside six minutes with a well placed shot into the bottom corner. It was the Uruguayan's fifth Premier League goal this season and eighth in all competitions so far in the 23/24 campaign.
Diogo Jota who joined late in the game celebrated his return to the pitch with a goal to guarantee all three points for Liverpool. Luis Diaz set it back to Jota who slotted it between James Trafford's legs to calm Jurgen Klopp's nerves in an intense end to the game.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz and Curtis Jones all dropped to the bench with Jarell Quansah, Harvey Elliott, Darwin Nunez and Ryan Gravenberch all coming into the starting 11 for Liverpool. Forward Diogo Jota also returned to the bench after missing the last few games with a hamstring injury.
Josh Brownhill looked to get his side back level with a long range effort which almost sneaked into the bottom corner but whistled past the wrong side of the post.
Cody Gakpo almost capitalised on Burnley's defensive mistake when he smashed it past Trafford on the second attempt but the referee saw a foul in the buildup resulting in the goal being disallowed.

The Clarets looked dangerous when attacking until the final pass with over hit passes denying Burnley from breaking through Liverpool's defence. With the Reds having put a lot of players forward on multiple occasions, it left gaps for the home side to counter attack.
Harvey Elliott thought he had added a second for Liverpool but it was disallowed for offside due to Mo Salah blocking Trafford's line of vision. Gravenberch squared it to Elliott who passed it into the bottom right corner leaving the keeper frozen in his spot.
Young centre defender Quansah who has impressed with every chance he has been given produced a brilliant sliding tackle to prevent Zeki Amdouni from going one on one with Alisson.
