Liverpool host Newcastle in their first game of 2024 which could see them push three points clear of Aston Villa in second place.

Mo Salah and Endo will be available for this fixture but it will be their last until February due to AFCON and the Asian Cup.

The Reds still remain without a senior left back but they have decided to recall Owen Beck from Dundee potentially for cover. Joe Gomez is likely to start left back tonight like he did against Burnley.

Diogo Jota could be in contention to start today’s game after he came on late and scored in Liverpool’s last game.  Alexis Mac Allister is also likely to return to the squad.

Newcastle have struggled for form recently losing six out of their last seven games in all competitions.

The Last time these two sides faced off Liverpool won the game 2-1 thanks to a Darwin Nunez brace. Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for an easier game this time round as Virgil Van Dijk was sent off early which resulted in Liverpool playing with 10 men for the majority of the game.
