Crawley Town progress to the next round of EFL trophy with win over Aston Villa under 21's

Crawley town qualified for the knockout stages of the EFL trophy after a nervous 3:2 win against Aston Villa under 21's.

The reds got back to winning ways after a seven game winless run thanks to Jack Roles's brace.

Roles opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a curling right footed shot from outside the left side of the box. The former Tottenham academy player added to his tally in the 55th minute when he smartly slotted his shot past the keeper from close range to make it 3-2 in a nerve-wracking period where Aston Villa dominated.

West ham loanee Kamarai Simon-Swyer also managed to get on the scoresheet when he slid home from Adeyemo's cross in the 15th minute to make it 2-0.

Aston Villa managed to get back on level terms after their two goals which came in the 42nd and 50th minute. but it was not enough for the youngsters as they conceded just five minutes later.

Villa pounced on Crawley's timidness in the second half with the home side seeing very little of the ball.

Crawley Town managed to hold onto their 3-2 scoreline to get to the end and progress into the next round of the competition.
