Crawley Town salvage a hard earned point against second place Stockport County

19/03/2024

Crawley Town came back from a goal down to earn a single point in a thrilling game which ended 1-1 thanks to a powerful strike from Klaidi Lolos. Antoni Sarcevic put the visitors ahead in the 61st minute with a brilliant header but Stockport were unable to keep Reds out as they equalised 20 minutes later.

Crawley now sit in ninth place and one point off the playoff spot with everything to play for in the last nine games of the season.

Going into halftime there was nothing to split the two sides with both Crawley and Stockport equalling each other out all over the pitch. A particularly good battle was between Kellan Gordon and Ibou Touray where they tested each other with constant dribbles and dangerous balls into the box.

Stockport County came out of the tunnel first after halftime and started brighter with many dangerous chances inside the first 15 minutes which was finally rewarded with a goal. After a number of saves from Corey Addai, it was only a matter of time before the ball found the back of the net.

Kyle Wooton was Stockport's brightest spark getting chance after chance but he was unable to outclass Addai. The Crawley shot-stopper added to his show-reel when he somehow denied Tanto Oloaofe an almost certain goal in the 56th minute.

However just five minutes later Sarcevic headed the visitors ahead with a powerful header to deservedly take the lead.  With 30 minutes left to play, Reds knew they had to up their game.

Substitute Ade Adeyemo was a nuisance for the Stockport defence with his dribbles that allowed him to glide past the defence on numerous occasions. Will Wright made use of his long throw with a number of attempted throws into the box but in the end it was a well- worked goal that got Crawley level.

Danilo Orsi who had been kept quiet for the majority of the game, flicked the ball round the corner to Lolos who rifled the ball into the far left top corner. The shot power had the potential to break the net due to the power but it held its ground. Ben Hinchiffe was left frozen in his place as there was nothing that could have been done to save that shot.

Crawley will Face Tranmere away on Saturday as their push for the Playoffs continue.
