Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he is set to leave Al-Nassr after posting a cryptic message on social media. The 40-year-old, who joined the Saudi Arabian club in January 2023, is out of contract next month.

Al-Nassr ended their season with a 3-2 defeat against Al-Fateh, finishing third in the Saudi Pro League. Ronaldo, who scored the opener and his 800th club goal of his career, posted on X following the defeat: "This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all."

During his time in Saudi Arabia, the Portuguese forward lifted one trophy — the Arab Club Champions Cup — but failed to win the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo, who ended the season with 25 goals looks set for an exit and his next move could see him feature in next month's Club World Cup.

Club World Cup

Last week, FIFA president Gianni Infantino raised the possibility that Ronaldo could join a team participating in the Club World Cup after Al-Nassr failed to qualify.

Infantino told YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed: "Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup.

"There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup... who knows, who knows?"

The competition is being held in the United States and will be the first to take place in the summer, featuring a new format with 32 teams.

Lionel Messi's Inter Miami and Al Ahly will play the opening game of the tournament on Saturday, June 14, at Hard Rock Stadium — one of 12 stadiums being used for the event.

Sixty-three matches will be played in total, with the final being held at MetLife Stadium on July 13.

FIFA have granted clubs involved in the competition permission to sign players between June 1st and 10th, which gives Ronaldo the opportunity to participate.

The summer transfer window in England officially opens on June 16 and closes on September 1.
