Dominant Liverpool held by Manchester United
Liverpool and Manchester United played out a goalless draw at Anfield in their first encounter of the season. Liverpool dominated the game but were unable to capitalise on any of their 34 efforts on goal
The biggest chances of the game came To Man United who could of won the game if it wasn't for a brilliant save from Alisson to keep out Rasmus Højlund's Effort.
The home side started fast in front of their biggest attendance for half a decade but the loud atmosphere soon dwindled after the first five minutes alongside the Reds performance. The Reds looked unable to create any dangerous chances with most of their efforts coming from outside the box.
Antony had two half chances in the first 10 minutes with neither effort challenging Alisson. United were poor on the ball when in possession and only managed six shots in the entire game.
Liverpool had 12 corners with Van Dijk connecting with one on the 30th minute but Andre Onana managed to keep it out.
When given the chance United attempted to play out from the back which resulted in them giving away a throw or corner time and time again.
Diogo Dalot was shown two yellow cards ,which makes a red card, in the 90th minute for dissent meaning he will miss Man United's game against West Ham.
With this result in mind, Liverpool move level on points with Aston Villa and one point behind Arsenal who are first in the table. Manchester United sit in seventh place with 28 points.
