Euro 2024: Group B predictions- Group of death

With Euros 2024 set to get underway later this week here is our prediction for Group B which has been dubbed the group of death. Spain, Croatia and current champions Italy will all compete in this group alongside Albania but who will make it through to the round of 16. 

1st place- Spain 

Spain look like a team to watch out for this tournament. The young players in their ranks look so promising for many tournaments to come and after struggling in previous tournaments in the last few years, this will be a good one for them. Alvaro Morata will provide the goals for this side with players around him putting the ball on a plate for the forward. Out of all the teams in this group, Spain will be levels above the rest hence their positioning in first place. 

2nd place- Italy 

The current champions aiming to defend their title will put up a good fight in this tournament. While they look like they have a lack of solid players, Italy are holders of the trophy for a reason. While they struggle against Spain, they will comfortably win their other two games which eases them through the group stage.

3rd place- Croatia 

Croatia are a sound all round side but will not be able to get those crucial goals to win their games against Spain and Italy. They will be a hard side to break down but tiredness will get the better of them in an ageing squad which is why they are third. They will once again be ones to watch in the tournament and do just enough to progress into the knockout stages of the tournament. 

4th place- Albania

I hope to be proven wrong but compared to the other three sides in this group they do not stand a chance. If they are to pick up any points it will be against either Spain or Italy. With Armando Broja in attack, he could light up the competition but I think they will struggle against these better sides.
