Flint's career began in non-league football with clubs such as Pinxton, Alfreton Town, and Matlock Town before moving up the ranks with Swindon Town in 2011. A loan back to Alfreton saw him help the club secure the National League North title, and upon returning to Swindon, he contributed significantly to their League Two title win under Paolo Di Canio in 2011/12.
In 2013, Flint made a step up to Bristol City for a six-figure fee. His 2014/15 campaign stood out as he helped the Robins claim the League One title and the EFL Trophy, scoring 15 goals across all competitions and earning back-to-back Player of the Year awards in 2015 and 2016. Flint established himself as a goal-scoring defender in the Championship, finishing his Bristol City tenure with 246 appearances and 38 goals before moving on in 2018.
He went on to represent Middlesbrough, Cardiff City, Stoke City, and had two spells at Sheffield Wednesday, where he lifted another promotion after winning the League One play-offs in 2023. His latest stint at Mansfield continued his trend of success, adding yet another promotion to his resume.
Now at Walsall, Flint is eager to bring his wealth of experience to the club and help push for success. "I'm delighted to be here and excited for the challenge ahead," Flint said.
"I've been training with the team for a few weeks now, getting to know everyone, and I'm ready to contribute wherever I can. I want to help the lads achieve our goals this season."
Walsall manager Mat Sadler praised Flint's leadership and quality, highlighting his ability to bring experience and competition to the squad.
"Aden offers a huge amount at this level and beyond. He's a proven leader on and off the pitch and a real threat from set-pieces. His presence will be vital for our younger players and the team as a whole,
Flint's arrival marks another important step for Walsall as they look to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for promotion this season after losing the League Two playoff final 1-0 against AFC Wimbledon in May.
