The England Under-21 international underwent a medical on Monday after helping the Young Lions secure a 3-2 victory over Germany in the European Championship final on Saturday.

The transfer was finalised on Wednesday morning, making Quansah the most expensive signing in Leverkusen's history as the club prepares for a summer rebuild under new manager Erik ten Hag.

Quansah, 22, joined Liverpool's Academy as a five-year-old and progressed steadily through the youth system.

He made his senior debut in August 2023 under Jürgen Klopp during a comeback win over Newcastle United. Over the 2023-24 season, he established himself as a first-team regular, featuring 32 times and scoring three goals, including strikes against Union SG, Aston Villa, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In Arne Slot's debut season, Quansah played 25 matches—13 in the league—as the club secured its 20th top-flight title. His final appearance for Liverpool came as he lifted the Premier League trophy at Anfield earlier this year.

According to reports, Liverpool have negotiated a buy-back clause worth around £51 million, though German sources indicate the clause will not become active until 2027. The Merseyside club see this arrangement as a way to retain a potential route to re-sign the highly rated defender if he excels in the Bundesliga.

Quansah leaves Anfield having made 58 senior appearances, scoring three goals, and collecting winner's medals in both the Premier League and Carabao Cup.
