Liverpool overcame an early scare to beat Luton Town 4-1 in the Premier League to maintain their 4 point lead at the top of the table. Goals from Virgil Van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott mean that The Reds will go into the Carabao Cup final on the back of a strong victory.

Luton led at halftime thanks to a Chiedozie Ogbene's header and countless missed chances from the Liverpool forwards, particularly Luis Diaz.

However after a half time team talk from Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool dominated the second half and their pressure paid off when captain Van Dijk equalised with a powerful header in the 56th minute.

Two minutes later The Reds had taken the lead when Gakpo nodded in from close range after Alexis MacAllister's fired in a cross from the right hand side.

On his ninth attempt at goal, Diaz slotted Liverpool's third past Thomas Kaminski to steer the game away from the visitors. The Colombians silky footwork allowed him to find space in the box in order to get his side footed shot to the near post and into the net.

Elliot who made his 100 appearance for the club, rounded things off when he pounced on a loose ball in the 90th minute to claim the fourth.
