Joe Gomez is set to play left back for Liverpool against Burnley with the Reds without any senior left backs

Burnley and Liverpool face off at the Turf Moor for their Boxing day clash which could see Liverpool finish top of the table if they win and Aston Villa do not. The Home side is in dire need of a win as they currently sit in the relegation zone with 11 points but come into this game on the back of a win against Fulham.

Liverpool have won seven of their eight Premier League away games against Burnley which is their highest away win rate against any side they've faced at least five times on the road. The last time these sides faced each other Liverpool picked up a 1-0 win with Fabinho scoring the only goal of the game.

Kostas Tsimikas could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking his collarbone after a collision with Jurgen Klopp in their draw against Arsenal. This leaves the Reds short on left sided defenders as Andy Robertson remains out meaning Joe Gomez is likely to start as a left back.

With Liverpool facing a busy month ahead with fixtures the Liverpool boss said: "Can Joe play all the games now until I don't know when? Robbo will be back and Kostas will be definitely out for a long while. I don't know, we'll have to see."

Liverpool could also be without their winger Luis Diaz who took a knock after a challenge with Bukayo Saka. Fellow forward Diogo Jota remains out as he is still recovering with a hamstring problem.

Jack Cork, Aaron Ramsey and Johann Gudmundsson were all missing for Burnley's 2-0 win over Fulham and two of them could return for the Clarets.

Vincent Kompany said "Out of those three names, one of them less so. But we're hopeful."
