Liverpool vs Everton-All You Need To Know

19/10/2023

The first Merseyside derby of the season will get the Premier League back underway on Saturday As Jurgen Klopp's men have bagged themselves another early kick off.

Their last encounter came back in February when Liverpool won the game 2:0 thanks to goals from Mo Salah and Cody Gakpo.

Liverpool's last game ended in a 2:2 draw with Brighton which resulted in them dropping into fourth place. A win against their close rivals will put them top with the sides currently above them not having played yet.

Everton won 3:0 against Bournemouth before the International break took place and will be looking to grab another win after their rocky start to the season. They currently sit two places above the drop meaning a win will be invaluable to The Toffees.

Liverpool have lost just one of their last 25 meetings with Everton with that being a 2:0 home defeat in February 2021.

Darwin Nunez looks unlikely to start in the early kick off due to cramping. He told El Observador "I come to leave everything on the pitch, and today it showed" and "I ended up a bit cramped at the end."

With the long haul flight back to Liverpool and lack of recovery time, it indicates that he will not start the game.

Cody Gakpo, Ben Doak, Curtis Jones, Thiago and Andy Robertson are all likely to miss out due to injuries and suspensions meaning Konstantinos Tsimikas is in line to start after an impressive display for his country.

Idrissa Gana Gueye could be in contention to face the reds after featuring for Senegal in their match against Cameroon. Seamus Coleman, Dele Alli and Andre Gomes all remain out.

The game will be shown live on TNT Sport at 12:30.
