Manchester City are close to signing Wolves left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri for £31 million.

The 24-year-old is due to have a medical at the club this weekend as the final stages of the deal, which includes £5 million in add-ons, are concluded.

To be eligible for the Club World Cup group stages, the Citizens need to complete the transfer before 10 June.

City have not had a natural left-back since Benjamin Mendy's departure, which led Pep Guardiola to deploy Oleksandr Zinchenko, João Cancelo, and Joško Gvardiol out of position in that role during their respective spells.

Towards the end of last season, youngster and midfielder Nico O'Reilly filled the role, including in the FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace.

Aït-Nouri joined Wolves in a £14.9 million deal from Angers in 2021 after spending the previous season on loan. He has made 157 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Last season, he made 41 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing seven assists to help the club avoid relegation from the Premier League.
