Cherki has signed a five-year deal with City and will be eligible to participate in the Club World Cup that begins on June 14.

City will begin their tournament on 18 June against Moroccan side Wydad AC before facing Al Ain and then Juventus in the final group stage game.

Cherki made his senior debut for Lyon at 16 and leaves the club having scored 29 goals in 185 games. He has also scored once in his two caps for France.

This is the Citizens third signing in two days, with Rayan Ait-Nouri joining from Wolves for £31m on Monday and Marcus Bettinelli joining from Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola's side are still yet to announce the signing of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan even though an agreement was rumoured to have been made.
