Marseille Vs Brighton Preview

05/10/2023

Brighton and Hove Albion face French Club Marseille in their first ever European away game and the first between an English and French side in the Europa league since the 2017/18 season.

Brighton suffered a slim 3:2 defeat against Aek Athens last time in their first ever European game. However Marseille picked up a point in their first game of the European campaign in a 3:3 draw against Ajax.

Both Brighton and Marseille are looking to get back to winning ways after their league defeats on the weekend.

Roberto De Zerbi said that "we are not used to playing so many games in the same week but we have to adapt"

With Brighton having a busy schedule so far this season De Zerbi has been forced to rotate his players. Both Webster and Welbeck are unable to "play 2 games in three days".

Due to this busy schedule left back Pervis Estupinan picked up an injury on the weekend against Aston Villa. De Zerbi said "we are losing important players, but we have players who can play the position with Lamptey or Igor".

He stands firm that "Brighton must have to adapt" and "we have passion we will show from here until the end of the season".
