Forest spent the majority of the 2024/25 campaign in the Premier League's top four but ultimately finished seventh, securing European football for the first time since the 1995–96 season.
Despite winning only two of their final seven matches, their seventh-place finish means they will enter the Europa Conference League play-off stage.
The Portuguese manager also led Forest to the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1991, where they were defeated 2–0 by Manchester City.
Santo's achievements mark a significant turnaround for the club and have earned him a vote of confidence from the board as he prepares to build on last season's progress.
I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football club," Nuno said.
"Since we arrived at Forest, we have worked extremely hard to create a special bond between the players, the fans and everyone at the club, which helped us achieve great things last season."
Forest will start their Premier League 2025-26 campaign against Brentford who are currently without a manager after Thomas Frank joined Tottenham.
