Alexander-Arnold, who had already confirmed he would leave Liverpool this summer, has agreed to a six-year deal.
Ahead of the Club World Cup, which starts on 14 June, FIFA approved an additional transfer window for this summer, from 1–10 June, to allow teams participating in the competition to register new players.
The right-back will officially become a Los Blancos player on 1 June and will be available to participate in the expanded, month-long tournament, which is being held in the United States.
The 26-year-old has been with Liverpool, his hometown club, since the age of six. He has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and League Cup with the Reds.
He will join England team-mate Jude Bellingham in Madrid, alongside Los Blancos' new manager, Xabi Alonso, a former Liverpool midfielder.
