Recap the action: Crawley 0-3 Crystal Palace

25/07/2025

At the Broadfield Stadium for @crawleytown final game of pre-season against @CPFC #TownTeamTogether #CPFC

Here are the lineups for tonight's clash. Oliver Glasner picks a strong Palace lineup to take on the Reds.

1- Crawley 0-0 Crystal Palace

The game gets underway.

1- Crawley Town 0-1 Crystal Palace

Jean-Phillipe Mateta opens the scoring inside the opening minute. Not the ideal start for Crawley.

5- Crawley Town 0-1 Crystal Palace

Crawley have had a very unsettled start in the opening few minutes which has left Scott Lindsey fuming on the touchlines.

10- Crawley Town 0-1 Crystal Palace

The quality between both sides has been clear to see so far. Palace are comfortably knocking the ball around the pitch while Crawley chase after it like year seven's who have had their ball stolen .

12- Crawley Town 0-1 Crystal Palace

Ismalia Sarr puts an enticing low cross across the box which misses everyone and out the other side.

15- Crawley Town 0-1 Crystal Palace

Crawley are trying to move the ball up the pitch but so far have been unable to beat Palace's relentless press.

19- Crawley Town 0-1 Crystal Palace

An effort from Daichi Kamada goes close. By close, I mean close to the corner flag.

20 - Crawley Town 0-1 Crystal Palace

Naourou Ahamada goes down with an injury giving both managers a brief moment to speak to their players.

22- Crawley Town 0-1 Crystal Palace

The midfielder is back on his feet and play can continue.

27- Crawley Town 0-1 Crystal Palace

Crawley have grown into this game and are enjoying little spells of possession. Dean Henderson is yet to be troubled though.

28- Crawley Town 0-1 Crystal Palace

Eze brilliantly escapes Kyle Scott and Josh Flint before attempting an audacious chip which is pushed over the bar by Harvey Davies.

31- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

 Goal for Palace.

The Eagles break through Kamada, who threads through Mateta. The Frenchman then squares it for Eze and the winger places the ball into the bottom corner to double the visitors lead.

35- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Harry Forster wins the ball back in a dangerous area with a strong challenge. It then falls to Reece Brown who attempts to curl his strike into the bottom corner from range but Dean Henderson is equal to the shot.

40- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Borna Sosa plays a brilliant ball across the box for Mateta but the forward is unable to find the target.

44- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Davies punches away Sarr's strike from close range.

45- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Scott gets the Crawley fans on their feet with a great challenge on Hughes.

45- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Sarr gets another shot away but once again Davies is equal to it. Two minutes added on by the referee.

HALFTIME - Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Crawley go into the break two goals down. After a disastrous start, the Reds began to grow into the game before Eze doubled the visitors lead. Against Premier League opposition it has been okay... so far.

Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

The players are back out for the second half. Palace have made a handful of subs at the break with Adam Wharton, Justin Devenny, Tyrick Mitchell all coming on. Hughes, Eze and Kamada are off.

46- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

The second half gets underway.

48- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

I've just spotted Eze on the pitch. I believe Ahamada was actually the substitute.

52- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Reds have started this half well, with Forster having an early chance saved alongside shutting Palace out. Palace also made two more subs at the break with Walter Benitez and Daniel Munoz coming on.

56- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Crawley do well to win a corner. From the resulting set piece, Forster puts a deep cross into the box which is headed clear and allows Palace to break. Sarr breaks free and rounds Davies but he cannot find the net.

57- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

A first sub from Crawley. Dion Conroy makes way for a trialist.

60- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Mitchell and Eze work the ball nicely down the left to win a corner. The resulting set piece is cleared by Flint.

64- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Glasner makes a triple substitution. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, Odsonne Edouard and Romain Esse are all on with Mateta, Eze and Sarr coming off.

68- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Palace win a free kick on the edge of the box after a good passing move. Edouard and Devenny are over the ball.

69- Crawley Town 0-2 Crystal Palace

Edouard takes, and it flies wide of the post.

71- Crawley Town 0-3 Crystal Palace

Palace get their third!

Mitchell delivers a low cross into the box which could easily have been cleared by a Crawley defender. However, it goes all the way through to the back post to Munoz who finds the top corner with a brilliant strike.

75- Crawley Town 0-3 Crystal Palace

Crawley look like they're ready for the game to be over now. After losing possession, there is no urgency to win the ball back and Esse can comfortably get a shot away which goes over the bar.

77- Crawley Town 0-3 Crystal Palace

More subs for Palace, Lerma and Clyne depart for George King and Mofe Jemide. #

Crawley also make a double substitution with Louie Watson, trialist and Jack Roles coming on for Holohan, Brown and Mckirdy.

80- Crawley Town 0-3 Crystal Palace

Rak-Sakyi dances through a wall of Crawley defenders before getting a curled shot away that goes wide of the post. The Crawley fans begin chanting "we've got the ball" in response.

85- Crawley Town 0-3 Crystal Palace

The game has slowed right down now and it's no surprise considering this is the first 90 minutes for quite a few of the Crawley players left on the pitch.

87- Crawley Town 0-3 Crystal Palace

Crawley almost get a goal. Scott takes advantage of an injured Palace player and plays an exquisite ball outwide for trialist (66). Trialist is through on goal but Jemide gets back and bodies the Crawley player.

90- Crawley Town 0-3 Crystal Palace

Roles hammers an effort over the bar.#

FULLTIME- Crawley Town 0-3 Crystal Palace

The whistle blows for the final time. A deserved win for the FA Cup holders.

I wonder how a win at the Broadfield compares to their Wembley Stadium triumph two months ago.
