The right-back, who made 354 appearances for Liverpool, could have left on a free transfer at the end of his contract on 30 June. However, Real Madrid paid the Reds a fee to release him early so that he could participate in this month's Club World Cup.
Madrid will face Saudi side Al-Hilal on 18 June in Miami, before playing Mexican club C.F. Pachuca four days later. They will then meet FC Red Bull Salzburg in the final group stage game on 27 June.
The England international has signed a six-year deal with the La Liga giants, with his contract including a €1 billion (£840 million) buy-out clause.
During Alexander-Arnold's unveiling for the 15-time European champions, a highlights video showcasing his goals and assists was played before Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez welcomed the 26-year-old to the club.
The defender then took to the stage and addressed the audience — which included legendary full-back Roberto Carlos — in Spanish.

"Thank you so much to President Florentino Pérez and Real Madrid for this opportunity," he said.
"Signing for a club like Real Madrid doesn't happen every day. It's a dream come true. I'm very happy and proud to be here. I'm eager to show the club and the fans what I can do."
Alexander-Arnold continued: "I want to show them what I can do, I want to win many titles, be champions, and continue to grow and enjoy football with the best in the world."
During his time on Merseyside, where he grew up, Alexander-Arnold scored 23 goals and provided 86 assists for Liverpool since making his debut in 2016.
He also won two Premier League titles — including one in his final season — two League Cups, one FA Cup, one Club World Cup, and one UEFA Super Cup.
